Capella Space is building a commercial synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation.

Capella Space took their name from a non-eclipsing binary star that is the brightest yellow star in the sky. Made up of four components that never block one another when seen from earth, the name Capella means "the little goat" in Latin.

The company's stated intention is to use data obtained by the satellites to deliver information to the necessary people who need to make crucial decisions affecting the economy, businesses, and lives.Capella Space's satellites weigh less than 40 kilograms and the intended set-up of the company's constellation is one of 12 polar orbits arranged to optimize global coverage with revisit times averaging under one.The SAR technology that is enabled on the product allows for images to be captured through clouds, darkness, and inclement weather.

The data obtained by Capella Space will be available to users on the company's platform. Users can get acquisitions through direct uplink tasking.
