Overview

Hemeria manufactures and develops equipment and systems for the space industry and France's nuclear deterrence force. For the space sector, Hemeria offers satellite equipment, solar arrays, space systems design, and nano and microsatellites. For the defense sector, Hemeria offers electro-optical targeting systems, energy conversion, storage solutions, and secure systems. Hemeria was founded in 2019 when Nexeya spun out the space and defense parts of the company into a new entity, Hemeria, after Nexeya reached an agreement to be acquired by Hensoldt.

Space

Hemeria is a longstanding partner of the French space agency CNES and designs, builds, and supplies space systems and vehicles for commercial, institutional, and scientific customers in France, Europe, and internationally. This includes developing smallsats, stratospheric balloons, and space systems.

Nano and microsatellites

Hemeria develops nano and microsatellites and has a goal of developing reliable, rapid, and agile satellites. These include satellites for the Internet of Things (IoT), defense intelligence, scientific research missions, commercial applications, and geostationary orbit activities, such as transport vehicles and satellite positioning.

Solar arrays

Hemeria designs and builds solar arrays for all types of spacecraft, including nano and microsatellites, rovers, and transfer vehicles. The company uses a CNES-approved manufacturing process in the 30W to 1kW range, and with a five- to eight-year in-orbit lifetime.

Satellite equipment

Hemeria develops equipment for satellites, including harnesses, satellite structures, and MLI capable of being used within the constraints of a target application. Hemeria designs harnesses to integrate with interconnection solutions for equipment in various types of applications; develops aluminum sandwich or monolithic CFRP structures for various applications; and builds thermal control subsystems for satellites.

Stratospheric balloons

Hemeria develops stratospheric balloons and is a leading supplier of scientific stratospheric balloons to the CNES and other space agencies. The company develops zero-pressure stratospheric balloons, often used for astronomy or astrophysics projects; pressurized stratospheric balloons, used for long-duration missions in the field of environmental or meteorology; and maneuvering stratospheric balloons, capable of piloting a trajectory through the stratosphere.

Assembly, integration, and testing (AIT)

Hemeria offers customers controlled production in the assembly, integration, and testing of satellite systems in a CNES and ESA-certified process. The company has worked with the Iridium Next constellation project, the Pleiades Neo constellation project, and the Globalstar 2 constellation project.

Space systems design

Hemeria offers an analysis of client requirements to design and develop space systems built around Hemeria's satellite platforms. This includes a detailed technical analysis of all aspects of a client's system, highlighting the risks and benefits of a given solution.

Defense

As a partner of the French defense procurement agency DGA, Hemeria designs, builds, and supports operational equipment for the Armed Forces, security forces, and private security actors. Hemeria offers modernization services for defense systems as well.

Electro-optical targeting systems

Hemeria develops fixed or mobile electro-optical targeting systems intended for use in harsh environments and designed for agile utilization. The company creates complete packages, which include configurable and precise targeting systems with control systems in modern consoles, software tools for simulation, data processing, and analysis. These include the Hyperion multi-sensor turret built for high-speed target tracking and capturing time and position data and the Hyperia multi-target video tracker capable of detecting and tracking several targets of interest.

Energy conversion and storage solutions

Hemeria develops secured and sustainable energy conversion and storage for the military nuclear field and for nuclear systems. The company offers technical solutions in the 10 KVA to 50 KVA power range, with variable speed drive motors to control electrically operated pumps, resonant brick DC/DC and DC/AC converters with MOSFET or IGBT power switches, and energy storage solutions of several megajoules.

Drone airships

Hemeria is a designer, manufacturer, and operator of drone airships for perimeter surveillance and critical infrastructure inspection missions. This can include long-endurance and autopiloted flights or stationary flights for linear inspection, area inspection, and perimeter surveillance. The drones are developed with vertical take-off and landing capabilities.

Surveillance tethered aerostat systems

Hemeria is also a designer, manufacturer, and operator of airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems based on tethered aerosats. These systems offer continuous flight persistence over days or weeks for constant surveillance, in day or night; capability for detection, recognition, identification, and tracking of targets of interest; and offering low operational costs.

Maintenance of ILS systems

Hemeria offers the maintenance of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) on military airbases and civil airports. The company maintains airbases and airports across France and has certification by the DGAC/DSAC; is capable of relocation of shelters, antennas, and calibration; and performs workshop repairs of PCBs and antennas.

Electronic systems through-life support

Hemeria develops through-life support for systems to ensure operational availability and sustained performance of strategic assets in the defense industry. This includes on-site maintenance, obsolescence watch, and storage for spare systems, while also helping partner organizations to optimize existing systems.

Secure systems

Hemeria, through its partnership with the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and its work in the defense industry, has been involved from design to integration, including through-life support—the on-board secure equipment used by land, sea, and air forces. The company offers multi-disciplinary expertise with design areas including electronics, software, and integration of various functions built for the defense industry.
