Coatue Management is a privately owned hedge fund sponsor led by its founder and portfolio manager Philippe Laffont. The fund was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in New York City. The firm invests in the public equity markets globally focusing on investments in technology, media, telecommunications, and the health sectors. It employs a long and short strategy to make its investments. It was reported in May of 2020 that the fund had roughly $25 billion in assets under its management.
Coatue Management was founded by Philippe Laffont, an MIT computer science graduate who worked as an independent consultant and a research analyst prior to founding the hedge fund.
