Formerly known as LimeBike, Lime is a micro-mobility company providing an electric scooter, bike, and transit vehicle rentals.
Adam Zhang, Brad Bao, Charlie Gao, and Toby Sun founded Lime in 2017 in San Francisco, California. Since launching in 2017, Lime has expanded to over 120 cities across 30 countries and five continents. The company has received $777 million in funding to date, and now employs over 700 workers worldwide, while more than 15 million have downloaded the Lime app. Its investors include Manhattan Ventures Partners, Google Ventures, Fifth Wall, GGV Capital, GR Capital, Fidelity Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, and Andreessen Horowitz.
It also operates in campuses in the United States including Georgia Southern University, University of Minnesota, Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis University, UNC Greensboro, NC St. University, Guilford College, NCA&T, Ohio State University, Xavier University, Vanderbilt University, Texas Tech University, UT Austin, Southern Methodist University, Our Lady of the Lake University, and the University of Washington.
Lime is committing to 100% zero-emissions operations fleet vehicles by 2030. It will transition all of its owned and leased operations vehicles, most often small vans, to be electric and powered by renewable energy over the next decade.
