IDG Ventures is an early stage venture capital firm that invests in financial services companies. Its network is comprised of five independent partnerships managing funds in Asia and North America, including International Data Group. IDG Ventures offers services intended to help companies understand their markets better and beat their competitors in penetrating them. To achieve this, they offer market research, global publishing and exhibition resources.
International Data group created their first fund in 1996 in San Francisco. In 2000, they expanded and started a fund in Europe. However, as of January 2019, this fund is closed. China Oceanwide Holdings group and IDG Capital partnered in January 2017 and acquired International Data Group and all its subsidiaries. IDG Capital is now the controlling shareholder of IDG Ventures.
