The Good Food Institute is a Washington, D.C. based 501(3)(c) nonprofit that offers strategic support to and lobbying on behalf of meat alternative companies, such as clean meat, plant-based meat, and clean eggs and dairy. GFI was founded in February 2016.
GFI aims to find the regulatory pathway forward for clean alternatives once they are introduced commercially and to help companies producing alternative proteins market their products. The company looks to operate with universities to inspire entrepreneurs to create and study synthetic and plant biology, and tissue engineering.
The Good Food Institute has collaborated with restaurants, grocery stores, food services, and other related companies, institutions, corporations, and governments to promote plant-based alternatives. They conduct research and development in fields of sustainability, climate change, and global hunger to help people receive and eat clean foods. The company ultimately has the goal to replace conventional animal agriculture.
