Aria Systems was founded in Pennsylvania by 5 professionals, all of whom previously worked for LaserLink.net (an Internet Service Provider), which was acquired by Covad Communications Group in 2000.

In 2008, Aria Systems raised $10 million in Series B funding, led by Venrock.In 2009, the company moved its headquarters to Silicon Valley; completed SAS 70 Type II certification; achieved Level One PCI Compliance; and published "Subscription Billing for Dummies".

In 2011, Aria Systems closed a Series C investment round of $20 million, led by InterWest Partners.In 2012, Tom Dibble was appointed Aria Systems' new president and CEO, and the company more than doubled recurring billings and revenue compared to the same period in 2011.

In 2013, Aria Systems closed a Series D investment of $40 million led by Bain Capital Ventures.In 2016, Aria Systems Closed a Series E investment of $50 million.In September 2016, Aria released Aria Crescendo.

Aria Crescendo, released in 2016 is the latest release of Aria Systems' cloud-based billing and monetization platform. Aria Crescendo is designed to allow companies that utilize recurring revenue business models like subscriptions and usage-based products and services to provide their end-customers with more ways to buy products and pay for them.
