Venrock capital is a private equity based venture capital firm headquartered in Palo Alto, California. The firm was founded in 1969 as the venture capital instrument of Laurance Rockefeller, grandson of John D. Rockefeller, and his siblings. The firm primarily invests in the technology and healthcare industries.
The firms first investments were in the aviation industry and the semiconductor sector.The company made early investments in computer companies Apple and Intel. It was a key investor in Aetna Health and has invested in the pharmaceutical companies such as Ironwood Pharmaceuticals as well. In 2017, the firm announced it had raised $450 million for its eighth fund.
The company also has offices in New York and Boston.
