The company is developing an open source protocol, called the Orchid Protocol, which is a blockchain-based decentralized peer-to-peer network protocol that powers a marketplace for buying and selling internet bandwidth.
On October 26, 2017 Orchid Labs announced closing their seed SAFT (Simple Agreement for Future Tokens) funding round with $4.7 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Blockchain Capital, Polychain Capital, Sequoia Capital, Struck Capital, MetaStable Capital, Firestartr, Fabric Ventures, Divergence Digital Currency, DFJ Growth, and CrunchFund.
