Nomad is an interoperability protocol enabling cross-chain communication. Users are able to bridge tokens between chains, and asset issuers can deploy tokens across chains. Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) can also facilitate the execution of cross-chain governance proposals.
With Nomad, developers are able to build native cross-chain applications. The protocol's objective is to enable users and developers to interact in multi-chain platforms. Nomad allows applications to send data between blockchains, including rollups. Applications interact with Nomad core contracts to enqueue messages to be sent. Off-chain agents then verify and ferry these messages between chains.
For message-passing security, Nomad utilizes an optimistic verification mechanism, which is inspired by designs like optimistic rollups. The Nomad protocol comprises two major components—on-chain smart contracts and off-chain agents.
