Across

Across is a cross-chain bridge for L2s and rollups. It is secured by UMA's oracle. Across supports the Ethereum mainnet, Arbitrum, Boba, Optimism, and Polygon. The Risk Labs Foundation supports the UMA protocol, the optimistic oracle securing Across. Risk Labs also works alongside the DAO to iterate on the design of the bridge and drive adoption.

The Across V2 system manages different contracts that hold funds and transfers them to each other. They are the HubPool and multiple SpokePools. The Spokes are able to exist on other chains, and standardized adapters are used for sending funds from the hub to the different spokes.

The Across system enables users to make deposits on a single chain, specifying a desire to withdraw on a different chain, then paying a fee. At different points of the transaction, other users can fill this relay and supply the original depositor with funds on another chain after taking a fee. The relayers are refunded by the system. When relayers do not fill deposits, the system carries out a slow relay, moving funds across cross-chain bridges to fill the deposit.

Across's ACX token is a governance token that influences the decisions on the functioning of the Access Protocol and the decisions made on the Access treasury. The ERC-20 token allows for decentralized ownership and control of the protocol, allowing holders of the token to make governance decisions.
