GitLab is a company providing a Git-repository platform to manage software development projects (wiki). The company was established in 2014 by Dmitriy Zaporozhets and Sytse Sijbrandij. It aims to provide a collaboration platform for developers to create, review, and deploy code bases. GitLab is based in San Francisco, California.

Product & Service

GitLab offers one product and one service: GitLab and GitLab Professional Service. GitLab is a subscription-type software product that software developers can use to manage the entire DevOps cycle in a software development project. GitLab Professional Service, on the other hand, is a variety of supporting services that a customer can purchase to utilize GitLab fully. Some of the services that fall under this category are implementation and migration services to GitLab system and employee training for using GitLab.

Funding

Since its founding year, GitLab has raised $165.5 million from seven funding rounds. Its most recent round was a venture round held in December 2018 and raised $20 million. As of March 2019, GitLab has received capital from 14 investors, with 5 of them as lead investors. Some past investors include Goldman Sachs, Alphabet, Khosla Ventures, ICONIQ Capital, and GV.
