Draper Nexus Ventures was established in 2011. The firm is a US-Japan cross border venture capital firm operating from Silicon Valley and Tokyo. It was formerly known as DFJ JAIC Venture, a firm founded through the collaborative efforts of Japan Asia Investment (JAIC), JAIC America, and Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ). It is associated with the Draper Venture Network together with over 22 firms located in more than 60 cities all over the world. As of February 2019, the firm re-branded itself as DNX Ventures.
Draper Nexus Venture Partners primarily finances startups operating in two business sectors: information technology and clean technology. The firm primarily invests on businesses based in the U.S and Japan. It has invested for startups in various funding stages – as of February 2019, it has provided financing for startups seeking funding at incubation, seed/startup, early venture, mid venture, as well as Series A and Series B investment stages. Within the same month, the firm has also managed to collect a total of $255 million across three funding series, launched in April 2011, September 2014, and November 2016 consecutively.
