Carta (formerly eShares) is an equity management platform and an SEC registered transfer agent for private and public companies, investors, and employees.

Carta offers three products to streamline board and investor management: board resolutions, board management, and investor updates. Carta helps thousands of investors to manage their portfolios.

Carta works with over 800,000 security holders at more than 14,000 companies including Away, Coinbase, Flexport, Kickstarter, Intercom, and Robinhood. Carta helps companies and investors manage their cap tables, valuations, portfolio investments, and equity plans. Founded in 2012, Carta has raised $600 million from Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Union Square Ventures, Spark Capital, Menlo Ventures, and Tribe Capital.

Carta is on a mission to create more owners. With over 14,000 companies, more than 800,000 investors, law firms, and employees on its platform, and a commitment to transparency and equality in equity, it is breaking the mold of how capital markets operate.

In 2020, Carta moved from email support to an in-app help center. As of March 2023, the in-app help center allows users to leverage an AI-powered search function tailored to Carta's customer based and the user's role.
