Cargill Corporation is an international producer and distributor of agricultural products. William Wallace Cargill founded Cargill as a grain storage facility in 1865.

In 2019 Cargill selected Jon Nash, who began his career at Cargill in 1998, to lead its North American protein business and the new role will be based in Wichita. Most recently, Nash was the president of Cargill's Protein foodservice business, and in the past has served as vice president of operations and was general manager and controller of the company's Fresno, Calif., beef facility.

Cargill Protein has 28,000 employees across nearly 50 locations where it produces beef, turkey, chicken and egg products to foodservice, retail and food ingredient companies across North America and around the world.

With an eye to complementing its focus on animal protein, Cargill announced today it will invest in Aleph Farms, a cultured meat company focused on growing complex meat varieties like steak.

Cargill is participating in a Series A investment round led by VisVires New Protein and joined by several other investors looking to move Aleph Farms' product from prototype to the commercial marketplace.

These investments complement the company's investment in its traditional animal protein portfolio, which has totaled more than $1.5 billion over the several years.
