Spatial is a company that aims to supply a social understanding of location to power application or analysis. The company was founded in 2016 by Griffin Morris, Lyden Foust, and Will Kiessling, in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States.
The company uses a combination of ethnographic research techniques and data engineering to use conversation taking place on social networks to gain an understanding about how humans move throughout their day. Spatial's data analytics and reporting products for retailers and restaurants measure the characteristics of the community and surrounding stores to help them make better decisions regarding real estate and location. The software tracks the behaviors and attitude of the area, which also determines property merchandising decisions.
Retailers and credit card companies can collect data about purchase behavior online and in-person, to make assumptions regarding consumer lifestyles, patterns, etc... This data combined with mobile phone companies tracking GPS location, allows Spatial to track routes, foot traffic, when people stop in front of stores or restaurants, which is all stored on a cloud.
Spatial Labs is a company that participated in the Class 76 - Mobility 2016 Summer cohort of Techstars and raised an estimated $2,100,000.
