Schouten Europe develops, produces, and packages plant-based meat alternatives and is based out of Giessen, Netherlands. The company has developed their own plant-based meat substitutes for burgers, schnitzels, sausages, mince, bacon, chicken, and fish.
Schouten Europe's production facilities have the following certificates for food safety: Food Safety System Certification 22000, International Food Standard (IFS), and BRC Global Standard for Food Safety. Soy used in products made by Schouten Europe are certified by the Roundtable on Responsible soy, and Palm oil used by Schouten Europe comes from an a supplier that is certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
Schouten Europe is a subsidiary of the Schouten Group, a family owned company that began in 1893 trading raw materials and animal feed. The Schouten Group grew their knowledge of plant-based proteins and in 1990 established Schouten Europe. Schouten Europe became the first Dutch company to produce and sell foods made from plant-based proteins in the Netherlands and became a major contributor to the growth of the plant-based meat alternative market in Europe.
