San Francisco State University is a public educational institution located in San Francisco, United States. Founded on January 1, 1899, it is a part of the California State University system and operates in the fields of electronic design automation, education, higher education, and as a university.
The university is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, the American Association for Leisure and Recreation/Council on Accreditation, the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education, and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Its motto is "Experientia Docet".
San Francisco State University is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the National Athletic Association, the Association of Public and Land, and the California State University System. It has two subsidiaries: the Estuary & Ocean Science Center and the San Francisco State University, Lam Family College of Business.
