M13, also called Messier 13, is a venture capital and private equity firm investing in consumer technology companies that is headquartered in Santa Monica, California and was founded in 2016 by Carter Reum, Courtney Reum, Mary Carmen Gasco-Buisson, and Christine Choi. The firm offers funding, strategic counselling, operational advice, human resources help, and other resources that help accelerate a companies growth. Notable investments made by M13 include: Pinterest, Lyft, Ring, Bird, Thrive, SpaceX, Tecovas, Bonobos, FabFitFun, Snapchat, Ancient Nutrition, Digital Ocean, Good Catch, Headspace, and Cabify.
On October 15, 2019 M13 announced raising $175 million for their second venture capital fund. The fund will primarily focus on making seed and series A investments in retail, healthcare, personal finance, and food. Each investment made using Fund II will be between $4 to $7 million, and the firm plans on making some later-stage investments exceeding $7 million. At the time of announcing Fund II M13 had made 80 investments, 16 exits, and used Fund II to invest in Capsule, Coinmine, and Doorstead.
