Founder Katelyn Gleason was previously an actress and theater major and previously worked for drchrono which provides an Electronic Health Record and Electronic Medical Record (EHR/EMR) platform for medical practices. Gleason aimed to replace the system of manually validating insurance eligibility through employees by phone with automated client-based software and an API. Gleason designed and developed the front end of her iPhone app and received assistance from a family friend for iOS implementation.
Eligible was in Y Combinator’s Summer 2012 class and participated in the RockHealth 10/01/12 cohort.
On January 14, 2015 Eligible completed their seed funding round with an undisclosed amount of seed funding from undisclosed investors.
On April 14, 2016 Eligible completed a venture funding round with $25.2 million in funding from undisclosed investors.
