Bark is an Atlanta-based technology company with software that monitors the digital communications of a customer's child through email, texts, and social media. The software sends an alert to the parent should an issue arise on those platforms, such as cyberbullying or suicidal thoughts.

Users of Bark can download the mobile application on any Android, iOS, or Amazon Mobile device. To begin monitoring, users must know their children's user names and passwords for the social media accounts that they would like to be monitored. Bark can connect to 24 different types of social media, including SnapChat, Facebook, TikTok, and more. It can also connect to the child's text messages and emails.

The artificial intelligence used in Bark's software uses natural language processing as well as context technology to filter which interactions can be a threat and which are said in jest. If an alarming situation should arise, the parents using Bark will be sent an alert along with more information on the specific threat. The app also provides recommendations for how to handle the situations with the user's children.
