Teradata Corp provides analytic data products and related services. The firm operates in two segments: data and analytics, which captures, integrates, stores, manages, and analyzes data of all types to answer business questions and deliver insight; and marketing applications, which offers marketing management products to help businesses with customer loyalty. Its solutions include components such as data warehousing, big data, discovery tools, integration tools, and business intelligence tools, to manage and integrate the data ecosystem. A majority of the firm's revenue is generated in North America and Latin America, and the rest from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.
Teradata was founded in January 1979 and is based in San Diego, California. In 1991, Teradata was acquired by NCR Corporation, which had been previously acquired by AT&T and turned into AT&T's computer subsidiary. In 1997, AT&T decided to spin-off NCR Corporation, which at the time included Teradata, as an independent public company. In 2007, NCR Corporation spun-off Teradata as an independent public company. Teradata held it's second Initial Public Offering on September 21, 2007.
Teradata Vantage is a data collection and analysis tool which allows businesses to discover real-time data at scale. The platform allows the user to see data from across an organization in a single place with preferred language and tools. Vantage can be deployed through cloud computing, on-premise, as a commodity infrastructure or as a service. They offer the platform through a subscription model.
Teredata Vantage supports R, Python, Teradata Studio, Jupyter, RStudio and any SQL-based tool, with various language and support for tools through plug-ins, extensions and connectors.
With Teradata Vantage cloud based services, Teradata works with AWS, Mircrosoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform and allows users to access Teradata through the seperate cloud services.
Teradata offers different ecosystem management products, including IntelliSphere, AppCenter, Data Lab, Data Mover, Data Stream, Ecosystem Manager, Listener, QueryGrid, Unity and Viewpoint.
Teradata offers data consulting services, through which they consult with clients on how and why to use their data products, and offer data and operational analytics for those products and how a client can use those products to affect their business.
On July 13, 2017 Teradata announced acquiring StackIQ, a developer of multi-server management systems for clouds and clusters, for an undisclosed amount of money. Teradata acquired StackIQ to be able to offer its enterprise customers and partners easier methods of deploying their technologies. A spokesperson for Teradata made the following public statement regarding Teradata's acquisition of StackIQ by stating:
StackIQ’s product will help Teradata further excel at automated deployment of complex systems, whether on-premises, in the cloud, or as software-only solutions.
On July 25, 2016 Teradata announced requiring Big Data Partnership, a company making big data solutions to extract business insights, for and undisclosed amount of money. Teradata purchased Big Data Partnership to help grow its global consulting business and expand its operations in Asia and Europe.
On October 19, 2015 Teradata announced acquiring FLXone, a company offering a platform for data management focused on improving marketing efforts towards customers, for an undisclosed amount of money. Teradata plans on integrating the customer marketing data of FLXone with its own online advertising data to enhance Teradata's ability for market directly to individual customers.
