PJSC RusHydro was established on December 26, 2004 as part of the implementation of the state program for the reform of the electric power industry in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1254-r dated 01.09.2003. At the time of creation and before the registration of the new corporate name of JSC "Federal Hydrogenerating Company - RusHydro", the full corporate name of the Company was Open Joint Stock Company "Federal Hydrogenerating Company" (JSC "Gidrogk"). The company was established as a 100% subsidiary of JSC RAO UES of Russia with the payment of the authorized capital of shares of JSC-HPP and property complexes of power plants.
As of January 1, 2021, the installed capacity of the RusHydro Group was 38 GW. The total thermal capacity is 18.8 thousand. Gcal/hour. The Group consists of 22 branches, as well as a number of controlled companies engaged in the generation, distribution and sale of electric and thermal energy in the Far East. In total, the RusHydro Group includes more than 400 power plants, including more than 90 renewable energy facilities. Among them is the largest in Russia Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP named after P.S. Neporozhny (6,400 MW), 9 stations of the Volga-Kama cascade with a total capacity of more than 10,000 MW, the largest in the Far East Bureyskaya HPP (2010 MW), as well as all three pumped storage power plants in Russia. RusHydro also unites research, design and survey, engineering organizations, as well as retail power supply companies.
The total volume of electricity generation in 2020 amounted to 148.6 billion kWh.
To date, the key projects of PJSC RusHydro are the design of new thermal power plants in the Far East, the construction of the Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP in the Magadan region and the Pevek-Bilibino power transmission line in Chukotka. Work is also underway on the Zagorskaya PSPP-2 project in the Moscow region. The company implements a number of projects in the field of renewable energy (construction of small hydroelectric power plants, wind and solar stations). PJSC RusHydro is also implementing a comprehensive modernization program for existing hydroelectric power plants.
