The Novosibirsk hydroelectric power station is located in Novosibirsk, Russia, and it is fed by the waters of the Ob River. This is the first and only hydroelectric power station on the Ob River. During its operation, the Novosibirsk hydroelectric power plant has already managed to generate more than 120 billion kWh of electricity. As of 2022, the installed capacity of the station is 490 MW. Novosibirsk HPP is part of Russia 's largest company for generating energy from renewable energy sources .
The share of the Novosibirsk HPP in the generation of electricity in the Novosibirsk region is on average 17% per year, during the flood - 25%. The HPP participates in covering the variable part of the load schedule, performs the functions of a rotational and emergency power reserve for frequency and voltage regulation, increasing the reliability of the power system.
The regulatory capacity of the Novosibirsk HPP is quite limited due to its complex significance. The mode of operation of the hydraulic unit ensures compliance with the requirements of the main water users: water intakes of Novosibirsk and Berdsk, water transport, agriculture and fisheries, the power system of the Novosibirsk region.
The Novosibirsk hydroelectric power plant complex is located in a megalopolis and has a high degree of flood protection. Due to the filling of the reservoir, the peaks of the spring flood are cut off, thereby reducing the flooding zone of floodplain lands below the dam.
With the commissioning of the Novosibirsk hydroelectric power station, the area and duration of flooding have sharply decreased.
The hydroelectric power plant includes: a hydroelectric power plant building, a spillway dam, open 110 and 220 kV switchgears.
There are 7 vertical hydraulic units installed in the HPP Building.
The architectural complex of the Novosibirsk HPP is an object of cultural heritage protected by the state.
