Kilobaser is a company that has developed an express DNA machine product for printing short synthetic DNA sequences. The company was founded in 2014 in Graz, Austria by Martin Jost, Alexander Murer, and Bernhard Tittelbach.
The company's product, the KiloBaser, is designed to enable scientists to reproduce the DNA they need on their desktops to perform genetic engineering and synthetic biology research and development. The company looks provide services that can be completed within a day in contrast to weeks at a time. The device is loaded with a new fluid chip which is put into a single reagent cartridge. The DNA data remains with the KiloBaser and is delivered within minutes.
The product works by entering the DNA sequence using the on-board touch screen, inserting the single-use fluidic chip and a standard PRC-style tube. After sixty minutes the synthesis is completed and the DNA oligos would be prepared for laboratory research. The kilobaser yields 300 pmol, requires argon or nitrogen gas supply, and is quality checked by an in-line trityl sensor.
