Global Bioenergies is a biotechnology company converting renewable resources in the form of residual sugars, agricultural, and forestry waste products into isobutene through fermentation. The company is headquartered in Evry France and was founded in 2008 by Marc Delcourt and Philippe Marlière.
On June 11, 2015 Global Bioenergies announced receiving a Zero Percent Interest Innovation Loan from Bpifrance worth €1.4 million. The loan is structured to be interest free for more than 7 years.
On June 20, 2019 Global Bioenergies announced raising €17 million through a public offer without preferential subscription rights and without a priority subscription period for shareholders. The company plans on using the additional funding to complete the laboratory scale, pilot scale, and demo scale for its isobutene production process. The funding will also be used for research and development efforts to increase the efficiency of isobutene production and fund the front-end engineering design of the companies first production plant.
