Casetext is a company founed in 2013 and focused on artificial intelligence tools for attorneys.
As a litigator, founder Jake Heller teamed up with Stanford CodeX fellow Pablo Arredondo, who was focused on new approaches to legal research such as Casetext’s AI-backed legal research technology, CARA A.I. Casetext powers litigators at law firms, solo practitioners and civil rights advocates and focuses on eliminating inefficiencies in legal research.
Casetext’s artificial intelligence search, CARA, finds cases on the same facts, legal issues, and jurisdiction. When a brief or complaint is dragged and dropped, CARA finds on-point cases. It offers filters such as Motion Type, Party Type, and Cause of Action to narrow results.
CARA A.I. automatically gives a digital table of authorities of all cases, statutes, and regulations cited in the brief and offers resources such as cases, statutes, regulations, articles by attorneys, briefs, databases of holdings and succinct statements of black letter law.
