Avita Medical

Avita Medical is a biotechnology company making regenerative medicines for dermal and respiratory applications.

Avita Medical is a company that looks to provide medicines and treatments to help patients regenerate skin wounds and tissues. The comment was founded by Fiona Wood in 1999, in Valencia, California, United States.

The company has developed a technology platform that is used to meet unmet medical needs in therapeutic skin restoration. They are interested in helping raise the standard of care for burn patients through their platform RECELL. Their system utilizes treatment solutions that mimic the skin's regenerative properties. The medical device sprays on the skin, and contains the patient's skin cells in the spray to assist with regeneration.

RECELL is designed to isolate skin cells from a small skin sample and introduce them to an enzyme solution which then creates their Spray-On Skin Cells. The epidermal suspension includes keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and melanocytes.

The precautions of RECELL include using with a meshed autografts, as the safety and effectiveness while using alone is not established. The platform, when in use with autografting, hasn't been established for the treatment of full-thickness burn wounds.
