Dr. Ann Miura-Ko is a Palo Alto based pre-seed and seed stage investor. Her investments are primarily focused on tech startups. She has a Ph. D in in Math Modeling of Information Security from Stanford and is a lecturer on entrepreneurship at the university. Her activity as an investor has been publicly recognized and landed her on the Forbes Midas List of top venture investors multiple times as well as on the New York Times global top 20 venture capitalists list.
Dr. Ann Miura-Ko is a co-founding partner at Floodgate, a seed-stage VC firm, as well as a co-founding member of the nonprofit All Raise, which aims to facilitate diversity among founders and funders. She has made early investments in Lyft, Refinery29, Twitter, and Twitch. She has also made early investments in newer companies such as Popshop Live, Poparazzi, Monthly, Emotive, Roo, Polygence, and more.
Dr. Ann Miura-Ko is a co-director of the Mayfield Fellows Program at Stanford and a member of the Board of Trustees for Yale University; she has been serving both positions since 2019. The Mayfield Fellows Program is a training program for tech-focused leaders and entrepreneurs; Dr. Ann Miura-Ko acts both as a lecturer and a co-director for the program.

Dr. Ann Miura-Ko was born in Santa Monica but grew up in Palo Alto, graduating from Paulo Alto High School in 1994. She then attended Yale University, earning a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1998. During her time at Yale, Dr. Ann Miura-Ko was on a robotics team that developed four soccer playing robots that competed at the Robocup in Paris.
Following her studies at Yale, she worked as a senior business analyst for McKinsey and Company from 1998-2001. She then took a position with Charles River Ventures, again as an analyst, from September of 2001 until June of 2003. She resumed her studies in 2003, attending Stanford University and studying Quantitative Modeling of Computer Security. She co-founded Floodgate in 2008 while still pursuing her doctorate. Anne Miura-Ko earned her Ph. D in 2010.
