Unilever is a multinational consumer goods company co-headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands and London, England with over 400 brands serving approximately 2.5 billion people everyday. The company was founded by William Lever, James Lever, and Samuel van den Bergh on September 2, 1929 the Margarine Unie company and the Lever Borthers signed a partnership agreement to form Unilever. The company was officially established as Unilever on January 1, 1930. In 1950, Unilever launched the Unilever Food & Health Research Institute to focus on increasing the nutritional quality and safety of their products.
In December 2018, Unilever's CEO, Paul Polman, quit the company. He was CEO of Unilever for 10 years. It was announced in December that Alan Jope will begin as CEO in January 2019.
