Teleport is a software that helps a user decide where to work and live, out of 266 cities around the world. The software takes into consideration the quality of life, salaries, cost of living, and more of residents in each city and matches that information with a user's personal preferences to help determine the location best suited for each user. It also gives users personalized checklists depending on their moving plan.
Teleport's founder and former CEO is Balaji S. Srinivasan, an entrepreneur from New York, and he has a bachelor's, master's, and PhD from Stanford University.
Teleport's platform uses data science and matching algorithms to bring user experiences and location data on the cost of living and the relative quality of life. This includes expertise in data science, machine learning, and complex automation. The platform is marketed towards digital nomads and otherwise remote workers to help them decide which city they may want to live in based on the type of life and the values of the individual, as well as their budget and related personal preferences. The platform features filters based on their preferences to search for a city to live in.
Teleport also offers users of the platform the company's Teleport Zen, which is a pre-filled and personalized to-do list and moving guide to help users plan and execute their next move. This includes simplified checklists, notes, and pictures to help users make detailed notes and keep track of their move.
Other Teleport platform tools include the following:
- Teleport Eightball—This allows users to calculate their salary and compare cost of living across cities worldwide.
- Teleport Sundial—This is a coordination tool for remote teams, allowing users to keep track of the group's locations, time zones, and availability hours for scheduling.
- Teleport Flock—This calculates and budgets the cost of a team meeting for distant and remote teams.
- Teleport Runway—This helps startup companies budget and compare the cost of living in one location versus another to help them decide if they should move their office to another location to extend their runway.
On April 3, 2022, Teleport was acquired by MOVE Guides, a cloud solution provider of global workforce relocation technology/services for businesses.
MOVE Guides, after their acquisition of Teleport, later merged with Polaris and Monaeo, to form Topia. Each company had previously been working on different aspects of the complexities involved in helping organizations and people find jobs that allowed them to be mobile. These different expertises were merged into the new Topia platform.
