Techland is a Polish private company, developer and publisher of video games. Founded in 1991 by Pavel Markhevka, who is its leader. The company developed Call of Juarez and its prequel Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, as well as titles such as Dead Island and Dying Light. Techland is headquartered in Ostrow Wielkopolski in central Poland, with offices in Wroclaw and Warsaw.
History
Techland started out as a software distributor , and the studio's first game was 2000 's Crime Cities. In 2003, Techland released a sci-fi first-person shooter titled Chrome . A shooter prequel titled Chrome SpecForce was released in 2005. Also Techland rally simulators Xpand Rally (2004) and Xpand Rally Xtreme (2006), as well as Volkswagen licensed racing game GTI Racing (2006). The improvement of the proprietary game engine Techland Chrome Engine 2003 continued. In 2006, Chrome Engine 4 was born, which introduced support for the PlayStation 3 game console. In 2011, Techland released the survival horror game Dead Island . Its sequel , Dead Island: Riptide , was released in 2013. In 2015, Techland released Dying Light for Windows , PlayStation 4 , Xbox One platforms . In 2016, Dying Light: The Following was released for the game . In 2018, Call of Juarez: The Cartel and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger were removed from Steam, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network, citing a dispute between Techland and Ubisoft. In April 2018, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger returned to digital distribution services with Techland listed as the sole publisher. Techland Publishing's first third-party title was Torment: Tides of Numenera, released in 2017.
