Simon Maynard began his career as a contracting developer while he was in university. He is originally from the United Kingdom, but now resides in San Francisco, California, United States.
Simon has been in finance and tech industries since his time in university in the 2005. His career as contract developer started with SoundPix and Microspot Interiors. After he was finished at university he moved onto working with new companies including Vodafone, Thales, Nationwide, and Swiss Re. He moved to San Francisco when he started working for USV and Y Combinator, as funded by Heyzap, in 2011. Afterwards he moved to working on his project Bugsnag.His time in the tech and finance industries was spent as a software engineer and project manager. His experience allowed him to operate across Heyzap's entire software stack.
Simon's projects include Bugsnag, gitscore, Redis Audit, and Mongo Profile Analysis. Bugsnag captures exceptions, or bugs, in real-time from the user's mobile, desktop and web-based applications. His project gitscore is a leaderboard site for github that calculates a score for a user based on their repositories and relationships in order to determine their activity on github. Redis Audit analyzes the keys in a Redis database and groups the keys based on similarity in order to provide statistics. Mongo Profile Analysis is a coffeescript node.js application that provides statistics based on profile information from a mongo database.

From 2002 to 2005 Simon Maynard attended the University of Bath where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and computing.
From June 2002 to June 2005 Simon Maynard worked as a software engineer for Microspot. During his time with Microspot Maynard developed a Mac version of SoundPic, developed new drawing tools for interior design products, and did quality assurance work on their MacDraft product.
From September 2005 to August 2011 Simon Maynard worked as a senior software designer for IPL where he lead testing for the Vodafone Linux HLR project, designed and developed a nationwide IOS mobile app, did system architecture on a KMS project for Thales, and gathered system requirements for a Pension System for SwissRe.
From August 2011 to September 2012 Simon Maynard worked as a senior engineer for Heyzap. During his time with Heyzap Maynard made a custom recommendation engine for game installs, lead the develop of the Heyzap IOS application, and helped build out Heyzap's engineering team.
In September 2012 Simon Maynard founded Bugsnag and became the companies CTO. The company automatically detects crashes in web and mobile applications, and then notifies engineering teams through email, SMS, or chat applications.
