Schroder Ventures was a venture capital firm headquartered in London, England. It was established in 1983 as the private equity and venture capital arm of asset management and investment firm, Schroder. The firm made cross stage investments in companies in UK, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Canada, and the Southeast Asia. It made investments in the technology and life sciences industries.
In 1997, Schroder Ventures raised a $1 billion fund to attract United States investors to the European investment market. Prior to 1997, the company utilized a country specific investment strategy.
Schroder Ventures was made an independent firm, following the sale of Schroder's investment banking division in 2001. It's US division was renamed SV Investment Partners. Schroder Venture's Europe division was renamed Permira.
