Overview

Pacific Market International (PMI) is a manufacturer of food and beverage container solutions, including the brands Stanley and Aladdin. PMI values sustainability and incorporates environmental concerns into their manufacturing practices. The company employs over 1,000 people and is headquartered in Seattle, WA. They are a global company with offices in Bentonville, Shanghai, Amsterdam, Manila, San Francisco, Shenzhen, and Rio de Janeiro. The company is led by CEO Bob Keller.

PMI owns a total of five brands: Stanley, Aladdin, Migo, Slant, and Flair. They are not only a manufacturing company, but also a brand marketing and product innovation company. As part of their efforts towards environmentally friendly and sustainable practices, PMI launched eCycle, a recycled food grade polypropylene (plastic), in 2008.

History

PMI began as a trading company. It was started by Rob Harris in 1983 in Seattle. Some of its initial partners included Nintendo and partnerships in China. PMI began shifting focus at the end of the 1990s from sourcing/trading to developing their own products and brands. However, they had already begun developing food containers through their partnerships with companies such as Eddie Bauer and Starbucks; they had even developed one the first stainless steel insulated cups for Eddie Bauer in 1994. The company also launched MiGo, a China-based food and beverage container manufacturing company and PMI's first private label brand, in 1999.

The shift in focus from trading to developing their own brands and products was further solidified by the acquisition of the brands Stanley and Aladdin in 2002. The company partnered with the Joshua Green Corporation in 2010, and acquired Agostini, a manufacturer and distributor of Aladdin products, in 2014. They acquired a housewares manufacturing company, Formation Brands, in 2016.
