Laragen started providing transgenic, knock-out and knock-in mouse genotyping services in 2002. Most of their mouse genotyping services are performed with probe based qPCR (TaqMan Assay).
Laragen began offering MiSeq NexGen sequencing service in 2013. In MiSeq, cluster generation, sequencing, and data analysis are all done on a single instrument. With MiSeq V3 2 x 300 kit, the MiSeq can produce 25 million of 600 bp reads. With MiSeq V2 2 x 250 kit, the MiSeq can produce 15 million of 500 bp reads.
Laragen also provides STR based human cell line authentication services. Their STR cell line authentication tests comply with ANSI/ATCC ASN-0002-2011 guidelines. STR (Short Tandem Repeat) is used in human paternity and forensic fields. STR-based analysis has also been used in human cell line authentication.
Based on the length of rDNA used, Laragen currently provides two tests of bacterial identification by 16S rDNA and one test of fungal identification by 28S rDNA. They use Genebank databases to identify the unknown bacteria and fungi. All reports include the consensus sequence of the tested bacterial/fungal sequences, the alignment of the top 10 matches at the species or genus level and a phylogenetic tree with these top 10 sequences.
