Jaikumar Ramaswamy, known as Jai Ramaswamy, is a former prosecutor, the chief regulatory officer at a16z, and a member of the board of the Celo Foundation. Ramaswamy holds a bachelor's degree in government and economics from Harvard University, a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a doctorate in social and political science from Cambridge University.
From 2004 to 2007, Ramaswamy served as assistant US attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he prosecuted federal criminal violations involving white collar fraud and cybercrime. From 2007 to 2015, Ramaswamy worked for the US Department of Justice, in the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, and then the Asset Forfeiture & Money Laundering Section. From 2015 to 2016, he was managing director and global head of AML Compliance Risk Management at Bank of America. From 2016 to 2019, he was managing vice president and head of Enterprise Risk Management at Capital One. From 2019 to 2021, he was chief risk & compliance officer at cLabs. In 2021, he was named chief regulatory officer at a16z (Andreessen Horowitz) and a board member of the Celo Foundation.
