Idwall is a Brazilian artificial intelligence company offering customer credentialing technology. The company uses machine learning and AI to to help companies build digital onboarding processes via Idwall's face match, background check, and automated optical character recognition (OCR) offerings.

Idwall was founded in 2016 by Lincoln Ando and Raphael Melo and is headquartered in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The company has raised USD$51.8 million in funding, including its most recent $38 million Series C that was led by Endurance Companies.

The company states that its APIs verify personal documents and information by searching public and private databases, pursuant to compliance rules. Idwall first validates that an ID is authentic, then ensures the person using it is the the owner of the ID. Lastly the software runs a full background check.

Idwall provides a number of identity and data verification services, including data extraction in document with OCR, face match, background track, mobile SDK, and documentoscopy.

Idwall's data extraction solution receives a photo of a CNH, RG, or CRLV and identifies the type of document. The tool then extracts information and processes it in the following ways:

The face recognition technology reduces the risk of impersonation fraud by comparing a selfie and the photo used in documents. The solution has active and passive proof-of-life (Liveness). The tool reduces fraud of biometric verification by asking users to smile and then using artificial intelligence to detect if the user is genuine.

Background Check consults data that is automatically searching for essential information in more than 200 data sources for individuals and companies. This enables streamlining of customers' and partners' onboarding processes, without neglecting the business security.

Documentoscopy determines the veracity and authenticity of an identification document, through analysis that confirms whether a document was, in fact, produced (or at least issued) by the person, agency, company or entity to which it is assigned; whether it has undergone any changes after its completion; or even if it was assembled.
