Heat Biologics is a company that has developed a T-cell Activation Platform therapy designed to identify oncology and infectious diseases. The company was founded in 2008 by Jeff Wolf, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States.

Heat Biologics' T-cell Activation Platform can be administered with checkpoint inhibitors and other immuno-modulators.

COVID-19

With the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus), the company has launched a program to develop a vaccine designed to protect against the virus. The company has created a platform called gp96 which has provided treatment and prevention options for the response or induction of mucosal immunity in SIV/HIV, malaria, zika, and other dangerous diseases. Heat Biologics has launched a program with its subsidiary, Zovolax, to use this gpp96 platform to create a vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 which ultimately causes COVID-19.

The protein gp96 is found in all human cells and takes the responsibility of acting as a "molecular warning system" to induce immunity against necrotic cells. The company believes that this protein is a useful vaccine platform that has been proven to induce immune response and immunity in the case of several infectious disease models. They are working to make this protein platform a viable option against COVID-19 and any variant strand of the virus.
