Giant Otter Technologies is an artificial intelligence company using more than a decade's worth of research on natural language processing from MIT in order to develop conversation bots that are capable of sustaining extended, coherent, context-rich conversations with humans. The platform uses recordings and live chat transcripts to produce its end of the dialogue.
The first application developed by Giant Otter is called SchoolLife. It's a 3D role-playing simulation with seemingly authentic, open-ended conversations for students to experience bullying as victims and bystanders in order to develop their empathy skills. The development of this app as well as the artificial intelligence involved is supported by the National Science Foundation, who has awarded Giant Otter with more than $1.1 million in grant funds to date (Award Number 1456093).
Giant Otter is now a software as a service (SaaS) company, using their AI framework and tools to help other businesses efficiently learn intents, flows, and slots in conversations so that they can develop customized customer service bots using existing data from customer support calls and chats.
