DeadFellaz is a non-fungible token (NFT)collection of 10,000 "undead" characters. It was launched in August 2021 and sold out within twenty minutes. It was developed by cofounders who go by the names Betty and Psych. The NFTs exist on the Ethereum blockchain and collectors of the NFTs, of which there are more than 6,000, who call themselves the "horde". It is estimated that the collection has garnered more than $51,000,000 in sales since its launch, depending on the price of Ethereum.
The collection is comprised of 10,000 zombie NFTs. They are all green and are formed from a random combination of 300 different traits such as backgrounds, bodies, heads, mouths, noses, and eyes. DeadFellaz are all genderless to represent the spectrum of gender as opposed to the binary. The designs of the NFTs are inspired by 1990s animation, music, and gaming culture, as well as 2SLGBTQIA+ culture. The collection has become popular with celebrities including Steve Aoki, Lil Baby, and Pussy Riot and launched a follow-up collection called DeadFrenz.
In April 2022, the team behind the collection signed with global talent company United Talent Agency (UTA). It is expected that this will expand the DeadFellaz collection into brand partnerships, merchandising, games, and more.
