CowryWise is a Nigerian financial technology and financial services company based in Lagos, Nigeria, founded by Razaq Ahmed and Edward Popoola in July 2017. In 2018, CowryWise was recognized as one of the 50 Global Emerging Startups by Kairos, a New York-based investment fund and was the only startup from Africa to make the list of 50 World-changing startups to watch in 2019.
CowryWise was founded by a former Investment Analyst at Vetiva Capital Management Razaq Ahmed and Edward Popoola in 2017 as a wealth management platform for young Africans It currently been funded by 3 investors which include Kairos, Y Combinator and Microtraction. It launched its mobile app for android in 2018.
Since its establishment in 2017, the firm has processed over $1.5 million in savings for its customers and has partnership with Meristem Trustees. CowryWise secured a $15,000 seed investment from Microtraction in 2018.
