Cortical Ventures is a San Francisco-based venture capital firm. It was founded in 2021 and has made eight investments as of 2023. The firm focuses on providing capital to start-ups in the pre-seed to series A stages of funding and are focusing on developing products and solutions using artificial intelligence (AI).
According to the Cortical Ventures website, the firm exists to invent, invest, and incubate companies developing AI products and solutions. It funds start-ups and partners with engineering professionals to incubate or co-found companies. Areas of focus for its portfolio companies include applied AI, modern data stack, and deep technology AI.
The firm's inaugural fund was launched in February 2022, and it is a $50 million fund. Cortical Ventures states it is backed by other venture capital firms and partners in the technology industry. In the same year, the firm's founders, Igor Taber, and Jeremy Achin, were nominated by Signature Block as two of the top emerging venture fund managers.
