Converge Venture Partners (formerly Common Angels) is a venture capital firm which invests in information technology, software application, digital media, digital marketing, vertical SaaS, cloud technology, financial services technology and artificial intelligence. They invest primarily in Cambridge, New York City and Eastern Canada.
Founded in 1998 as Common Angels, Converge Venture Partners changed their name in 2013 to Common Angels Ventures before finally changing to Converge Venture Partners in 2015. The change in name was intended to reflect the change in investment focus for the firm.
That change came from a move away from an angel-investing network, through which entrepreneurs and startups could find investment either in groups or individuals, into a venture capital firm where they converged their capital into funds. This included closing a $27 million fund in 2014. Senior Managing Director Maia Heymann, on the change in funding direction and naming, said of Converge Venture Capital:
We have this phenomenal network. If you combine this with dedicated capital, you can have a very powerful force in the market for early stage investment.
Their investment are across the sectors of artificial intelligence, block chain, data & analytics, industrial, martech, media, sales acceleration, security and vertical SaaS. These include Crayon, RapidMiner, Chainalysis, Enigma, Jibe, Klipfolio, Rize, Smartvid.io, Blueconic, Coherent Path, Disruptor Beam, Harmonix, Influitive, Insightsquared, APDS and Family ID.
