Bangkok Post is an English-language news medium providing both online and print information and published in Bangkok,Thailand. It was first published on August 1, 1946, and is Thailand’s oldest English-language daily newspaper.
Bangkok Post's parent company is the Bangkok Post Public Company Limited, which also publishes the English-language lifestyle magazines GURU and B Magazine; both sections of the Bangkok Post; the Post Today, a Thai-language online news site; and News Clear, an online video channel dedicated to current affairs and trends.
Bangkok Post Public Company Limited also has two subsidiaries, the Post International Media Company Limited and the Bangkok Post-Bauer Media Company Limited. These subsidiaries publish Thai-language editions of international magazines Elle Thailand and Forbes Thailand and the digital edition of Cleo Thailand. Bangkok Post Public Company Limited also has a majority stake in the Mushroom Group Company Limited, a producer of television programming and online content for both domestic and Asian region markets. The company's shares are traded on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) under the symbol “POST.”
Bangkok Post was founded by Maj Gen Alexander MacDonald, an American military officer, and Prasit Lulitanon. The first edition of Thailand’s first English-language newspaper was published on August 1, 1946, with MacDonald serving as the newspaper’s first editor.
In December 1984, Post Publishing was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand as a public company. The name of the company was changed to Bangkok Post Public Company Limited in April 2017.
