Arthur Breitman is a businessperson and engineer mostly known for being the architect and cofounder of Tezos, a protocol that uses a self-amending contract to update its blockchain.
Breitman was raised outside of Paris, and at age eighteen, he won the bronze in the International Olympiad in Informatics, which was the first medal that France had won in that competition. He then attended École Polytechnique, a higher education institution, where he earned his degree in applied math and computer science. Breitman then attended the Courant Institute of New York University (NYU), where he also studied applied mathematics.
Breitman worked at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as a quantitative analyst after graduating with his Master of Science from NYU. Later, he worked as a research engineer in the autonomous vehicle industry for companies such as Google X and Waymo.
In 2014, Breitman published a paper on the topic of blockchains under the pseudonym L.M. Goodman. In the paper, he suggested the idea of a different architecture for blockchain and called it Tezos. Later, he cofounded with his wife, Kathleen Breitman, an actual company to develop this blockchain.
The company also started with a group of developers and operates from Switzerland. In addition to being a cofounder of the company, he also acts as chief technology officer (CTO).
