ABRY Partners is a private equity and venture capital investment firm headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1989 by Andrew Banks and Royce Yudkoff. The firm makes late stage capital investments of technology and media companies. It also specializes in acquisitions, buyouts, and mezzanine level investments for growth stage companies. The firm invest in the Broadband, Business Services, Communications, Cybersecurity, Healthcare IT, Information Services, Insurance Services, Internet-of-Things, Logistics, Media, and Software as a Service sectors.
In 2020, it was reported that the firm had $12.8 billion dollars worth of assets under active management and had invested $82 billion since its launch. The firm operates four funds, each with different investment strategies: ABRY Partners Fund, ABRY Heritage Fund, ABRY Senior Equity Fund and ABRY Advanced Securities Fund.
Its flagship fund, ABRY Partners IX, was valued at $2.1 billion which invested $50 million to $200 million in portfolio companies. It provides portfolio companies business strategy, operating, marketing, and financial consulting services through controlling positions. The first flagship fund, ABRY Partners I, launched in 1989 was valued at $35 million.
ABRY Heritage Funds was launched in 2016 and invests in lower middle market companies. Investments range from $20 million to $50 million.
ABRY Senior Equity Fund (ASE) V is the firm's structured equity fund it is valued at $1.05 billion. ASE V was launched in 2017. The fund was initially referred to as ABRY Mezzanine Partners when it launched in 2001. In 2006, the firm launched ABRY Senior Equity II which was valued at $650 million. The fund makes investments in the range of $20 million to $75 million structured as non-cash or partial-cash paying customized securities.
ABRY Advanced Securities Fund IV was launched in 2019 and was valued at $1.5 billion. The fund invest in senior debt securities through primary and secondary markets, typically first and second lien bank debt securities raised to support leveraged buyouts. Advanced Securities Fund I was established in 2008 and was valued at $675 million.
