ViralMoment is a social analytics startup offering software tools that use AI to contextualize and understand video, image, text, or audio content to help users predict and monitor emerging trends and gaint insight into their audience's preferences on social media platforms such as Reddit, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat, and TikTok. By utilizing computer vision and AI, the ViralMoment software can see and interpret events across potentially millions of videos at a time, extracting symbols and movements and turning this decoded information into data points for further analysis.
According to Chelsie Hall, ViralMoment's CEO, the company initially plans to use its software on short-form video platforms, such as Snapchat and YouTube. In the future, however, the company hopes to introduce “platform agnostic” technology, so as to gain the capability of analyzing videos regardless of their source. ViralMoment does not partner with the platforms on which it is analyzing content, but Hall said the company is open to such partnerships in the future. Initially, the company's technology is used to analyze topics such as video game culture and makeup or sneaker trends, but according to the founders, eventually it could possibly be used to detect and prevent fraud and to stop the spread of extremist views on digital platforms.
ViralMoment measures movements on TikTok to help users understand the community, and provides them with tools to increase their outreach to a specific target audience. The company's analytics solution uses AI, computer vision, and context layering to give users insight into consumer sentiment. Amplify Enterprise offers the following features:
- The ability to provide insight into user-generated content (UGC) with the most engagement in a specific space and in particular communities
- Employment of image data to monitor virality, to give users insight into what communities are engaging with their content and conversations, and to create data-backed brand strategy
- The ability to detect the topic of a video and the general user sentiment towards it, giving the user insight into the short-form video conversation about the topic, products, or competitors
- Monitoring of trending topics, symbols, content, and meme templates, and providing insight into what is trending and whether it is gaining or losing traction
- Monitoring of social platforms for image and video mentions of popular topics, and sending alerts when a tracked topic or keyword is going viral
The ViralMoment app is available for iPhone and Android users in the App Store and the Google Play store. It enables creators to see what types of sounds, hashtags, and effects are present in other, popular accounts in their niche. The app shows trending content in various categories and highlights rising influencers and celebrities so that users can gain insight into the type of content that effectively draws in engagement.
According to Hall, the app is a companion to ViralMoment's enterprise product, which focuses on developing strategy for creative teams to give them a "data-backed solution" that heightens their chances of reaching target audiences.
ViralMoment has been funded by angel investors; VentureBridge, an initiative by the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University; and startup accelerator TechStars Los Angeles.
In addition, ViralMoment won $50,000 from a pitch competition held at the Eradicate Hate Global Summit held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in October 2021. The company claimed to intend to use the funding to make its tools and research more accessible to those without a data or analytics background.
