Tushar Jain is an American entrepreneur and cryptocurrency investor, advocate, and enthusiast. He currently serves as co-founder and managing partner of Multicoin Capital.
Jain is also the president of the Decentralized Wireless Alliance, a global, non-profit dedicated to "the proliferation of a secure, cost-effective Internet of Things."
According to Jain, "The crypto markets are the least efficient markets I’ve ever seen in my life, and that means active management has an opportunity to shine."
In May 2017, Jain co-founded Multicoin Capital with Kyle Samani. Multicoin is an investment firm involved in cryptocurrencies, tokens, and blockchain companies, and manages hedge and venture funds across public and private markets. Jain currently serves at Multicoin as a managing partner.
Under Jain's leadership, in December 2021, Multicoin reported to investors that its first hedge fund's assets increased by 20,287 percent since its inception in October 2017. In May 2021, Multicoin raised $100 million for its second venture capital fund, and in October 2021, Multicoin announced raising $250 million for its third fund. Multicoin's success has been attributed to investments in newer crypto companies and currencies, including Solana, Helium, and Arweave.
As of 2022, Multicoin maintained offices in Austin, New York, and Beijing.
In 2013, Jain co-founded ePatientFinder, alongside Greg Sweatt and Tom Dorsett. ePatient Finder provided technology services to physicians, life-science companies, and health care organizations by providing a web application to present novel treatment options and an electronic health record database that could be leveraged to identify patients who are suited for clinical trials.
Jain served as ePatientFinder's chief operating officer and led development of the technology platform, the data science processes, and management of daily company operations.
During his tenure at ePatientFinder, Jain contributed to growing the company and raised over $11.4 in venture capital. ePatientFinder was acquired by Elligo in 2018.
In 2012, Jain moved to Austin, Texas, and led technical sales at VersaSuite, an information technology company centered around healthcare. Prior to founding ePatientFinder, Jain also worked as an underwriter for FGI Finance and in investment banking at Credit Suisse.
Jain graduated from New York University (NYU) in 2012 with degrees in finance and political science. While at NYU, Jain met his co-founder of Multicoin, Kyle Samani, who was also attending the university. Jain was also a chairman at the Investment Analysis Group, NYU's only undergraduate investment fund.
Jain was born in India. After immigrating with his family to the United States, Jain lived in Astoria, Queens, New York. As of 2022, Jain resided in Austin, Texas. His parents manage a clothing store in Manhattan.According to a 2020 Forbes Magazine profile, Jain is described as "quiet and reserved" and enjoys practicing yoga in his spare time.
