Tissot

Tissot is a luxury Swiss watch manufacturer, founded in 1853.

Tissot is a Le Locle, Switzerland-based luxury watchmaker and a subsidiary of the Swatch Group, the world's largest producer and distributor of watches. Tissot watches are distributed in more than 160 countries at over 14,000 boutiques and 200 single-brand stores, as well as sold online through its website.

Tissot was founded by in 1853 by father and son Charles-Félicien Tissot and Charles-Émile Tissot, in Le Locle, Switzerland. In 1930, Tissot merged with watch company Omega SA, forming Société Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogère (SSIH). In 1983, holding company Allgemeine Schweizerische Uhrenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft (ASUAG) was formed, encompassing SSIH. ASUAG was renamed Société Suisse de Microélectronique et d’horlogerie (SMH) in 1985, and SMH was renamed the Swatch Group in 1998. Tissot introduced the first mass-produced pocket watch and the first pocket watch with two time zones in 1853, the first non-magnetic wristwatch in 1930, and the first watch with a plastic movement and case in 1970.

Tissot has several official sports partnerships, and its watches are the official timekeeper of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), European Club Rugby (EPCR), French league Rugby XV, International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Swiss Ice Hockey Federation, the Asian Games, cycling events including the Tour de France, Giro, the Road, Track, Mountain Bike and BMX Cycling World Championships, and Tissot Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Track Cycling World Cup, and motorbiking events including La Vuelta, MotoGP, and FIM Superbike World Championship.
